Emotions First

Finally, online tutoring that focuses on mental health first.
Our bespoke new online course begins with the first principal that children can't do their best learning if they aren't feeling emotional secure.
Emotions First is built around Emotional Literacy. This is a person's ability to recognise, name, and express feelings. At My Primary Tutor, we take it a step further by looking at why they feel these emotions and how we can make these feelings more positive.

Our Emotions First programme helps pupils to build confidence and think and feel more positively about their learning. When they believe, they really can achieve!
We all know that children can struggle when it comes to their emotions, and the last year, with so many changes, worries and illnesses, has put children's mental health at the forefront of both parent's and educator's minds.

With this in mind, My Primary Tutor has created a feelings journal to help children and parents to get back on track. It will, with regular use, allow you both to begin to understand how to recognise both positive and negative emotions, and how to spot the triggers which can produce them.
We believe that children can only do their best learning when they are in the right state of mind to do so - feeling confident and prepared. This free journal is the first step on the journey - and My Primary Tutor will be with you each step of the way.
Triggers
Through our 8 week online tutoring programme, we explore the emotions your child feels and what might be triggering these feelings. We look at the behaviours they might exhibit when feeling this way and if these are the same at home compared with school.
Growth Mindset
At My Primary Tutor we believe in a growth mindset. This means we believe all children can achieve when they think positively and have confidence in themselves. We help pupils to turn their negative feelings into positive ones and become more resilient and determined learners.
Strategies
We work on a range of strategies to support pupils in developing a growth mindset. We help them to become more independent and think positively about themselves and their learning. We help them build resilience to tackle tasks head on and know when to seek support and who they can ask.
Next Steps
We help pupils to set targets for the future and we can support them to achieve them. Whether they want to get more confident with maths or better at reading and spelling, we can offer the support they need after they have completed the Emotions First programme.
